MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos will finally get to see Eduard Folayang back in action when the Team Lakay legend faces Antonio Caruso of Australia on Friday in ONE: Inside the Matrix at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Folayang (22-9), the former two-time lightweight champion, hopes to put himself back into the title picture against Caruso (7-1) after losing to Pieter Buist in Manila last January.

The show will be live on One Sports+ at 8:30 p.m. while One Sports will air the event on a same-day delay at 9 p.m. TV5 will also broadcast Inside the Matrix on Saturday at 11 p.m.

The event features six fights, highlighted by four world title showdowns with Aung La N Sang defending his middleweight belt against Reinier De Ridder in the main event.

In the co-main event, Christian Lee puts his lightweight strap on the line against Iuri Lapicus.

Meanwhile, featherweight king Martin Nguyen makes a title defense against Thanh Le while women’s strawweight champion Xiong Jing Nan will be tested by Tiffany Teo.

MANILA, Philippines —  There’s no stopping Cine Europa to be held this year, as the annual film festival goes online for its 23rd edition.

Cine Europa 23 will feature 19 films from 20 European Union-member countries, and will be accessible through cineuropaph.com, the European Union delegation of the Philippines said in a statement on Tuesday.

This year’s opening film is the German comic-thriller “Sweethearts,” which tells the story of Mel, a professional criminal and his easily-panicked hostage Fanny.

According to the first counselor of the EU delegation to the Philippines Rafael de Bustamante, the film festival aims “at exposing the Filipino public to films which rarely make it  to the  commercial theaters.”

He added: “The celebration of the cultural partnership between the EU and the Philippines continues with Cine Europa which is getting bigger every year.”

“The EU wants to sustain its tradition of providing highly-acclaimed European films to the Filipino moviegoers,” he said.

The 23rd edition of the Cine Europa film festival will run from Oct. 31 to Nov. 29.

IPL 2020 Team of the Week: Sam Curran leads impressive group of England stars

The latest week in the 2020 Indian Premier League has blown the play-off race wide open after teams at the bottom of the table made big gains against the established leaders.

Since the start of the tournament in October, we have been picking the Team of the Week with help from our social media followers. We’ve narrowed down the top performers to 22 players before putting them to a vote on our Instagram stories.

After a 24-hour voting period in which two players jostled for each position, this is the final XI.

BEN STOKES – RAJASTHAN ROYALS

The England star had looked extremely rusty on his return to cricket after a prolonged break, but that changed in the span of a sensational innings against Mumbai Indians. Stokes’ brilliance turned a daunting chase of 196 into a walk in the park for Rajasthan, and the Englishman deservedly brought up a century before finishing things off.

It was a timely reminder of a prodigious talent who can touch heights which very few, if any, in the sport can match. The superbly crafted ton against the defending champions has also handed the Royals a faint glimmer of hope with regards to their play-off ambitions.

SHIKHAR DHAWAN – DELHI CAPITALS

What Stokes pulled off against Mumbai has been attained twice this season already by the experienced Shikhar Dhawan. The veteran opener has been enjoying a purple patch and registered two back-to-back hundreds against CSK and KXIP. That these grandiose displays came on the back of two successive half-centuries is testament to Dhawan’s ridiculous consistency in the ongoing campaign.

He was generating good starts at the beginning of the season, though it is only in recent matches that Dhawan has really started to turn the screws. With him in
